What’s New & Exciting
A $100M, 165,000 sq. ft. standalone Eye Institute is opening in 2027 in Winston-Salem’s Innovation Quarter. The four-story facility will house all eye services, surgical suites, research, and clinical trials under one roof.
Highlights
  • Full-time Academic Cornea Specialist position within a nationally recognized ophthalmology program
  • Primarily outpatient clinical and surgical practice with a weekday schedule and shared call
  • Join a thriving cornea service treating a broad spectrum of corneal and ocular surface diseases, including dry eye, Fuchs' dystrophy, keratoconus, herpes keratitis, and pterygium
  • Enjoy a rewarding mix of medical and surgical care, including corneal transplantation and advanced corneal procedures
  • Care for a diverse patient population while helping restore and preserve vision through comprehensive cornea and external disease management
  • Supported by a dedicated team of ophthalmic technicians, orthoptists, administrative professionals, and research coordinators
  • Play an integral role in the education and mentorship of residents, fellows, and medical students
  • Training environment with 4 ophthalmology residents per year
  • Fellowship programs in Cornea, Retina-Vitreous, Glaucoma, and Pediatric Ophthalmology

Training and/or Experience Required
  • DO, MD or MD-DO/PhD
  • Board certified or board eligible in ophthalmology
  • Completion of fellowship training in Cornea, External Diseases & Refractive Surgery
  • North Carolina unrestricted medical licensure or eligible
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration in North Carolina
