The Department of Ophthalmology at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist currently employs 23 faculty in a collaborative and congenial environment. The cornea division includes three full-time clinical cornea faculty and one of the premier corneal fellowships in the country. We have experienced steady growth in clinical and surgical volume that will be accelerated as we move into a new free-standing Eye Institute in 2026. We are a regional leader with established tertiary referrals and a large catchment area that encompasses all of Western North Carolina, as well as Eastern Tennessee, Virginia, South Carolina, and West Virginia. Moreover, we are part of the third largest non-profit health system in the country due to our strategic partnership with Atrium Health, now part of Advocate Health. As part of this strategic alignment, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, located in Winston-Salem, NC, serves as the academic core of the entire health system.
- EPIC EMR
- Be part of an integrated nationally recognized organization with physician-led medical group and embedded service line
- Leverage access to DAX Copilot, an AI-powered clinical documentation tool integrated with Epic, streamlining clinical workflows by generating draft patient notes for efficient review, editing, and signature
- Experience an environment that provides safe and equitable care for all patients
- MD or MD/PhD
- Board certified or board eligible in ophthalmology
- Completion of fellowship training in medical and surgical cornea
- North Carolina unrestricted medical licensure or eligible
