Highlights
Department Description:
At the Department of Ophthalmology at the Wake Forest School of Medicine, we are training the next generation of specialists in eye care. Our department offers a robust resident training program in comprehensive ophthalmology in addition to fellowships in cornea and external disease, retina-vitreous disease, and oculofacial plastic and orbital surgery.

Education and Research
In addition to caring for patients, our ophthalmology specialists provide graduate and post-graduate medical education and clinical scientific research. We are continually evaluating specialty eye care treatments and thinking carefully and deeply about what is the best way to take care of each individual patient who walks through our doors.
Many of the vision tests, treatments and therapies offered at the Eye Center were actually pioneered by members of our team. Because of our ongoing work in clinical trials, research and innovation, we offer treatments not available everywhere.
By using new approaches such as these with the latest equipment and resources typically available at large academic medical centers, we achieve more successful outcomes in patients with common and more difficult-to-treat eye conditions.
