Wake Forest University School of Medicine is seeking a Pediatric Palliative Care or General Pediatrician with experience caring for children with complex care needs to join a well-established, multidisciplinary integrated palliative/complex care team at Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC, providing compassionate, patient- and family-centered care to children with serious illnesses.

Highlights
  •  Enjoy a balanced inpatient–outpatient schedule delivering consultative care for hospitalized children at Brenner Children’s Hospital while providing comprehensive outpatient services—both in-person and via telehealth—for complex and palliative care, with opportunities to collaborate within multidisciplinary specialty clinics and support continuity of care.
  •  Join a collaborative group of two physicians supported by three experienced nurse coordinators, a social worker and a patient navigator.
  •  Benefit from a well-balanced weekly schedule with one dedicated administrative day and four days of clinical inpatient and outpatient work.
  •  Eligible for appointment as Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Wake Forest School of Medicine (WFSM), commensurate with experience.
  •  Actively engage in the education of medical students, residents, hospice & palliative medicine fellows and other learners across the continuum.
  •  Become part of a well-developed and established research program with access to large-scale grants and opportunities for meaningful scholarly involvement.
  •  Take part in ongoing quality improvement initiatives, with opportunities to contribute to program development and patient care advancements.
  •  Join a well-established program founded in 2008, offering stability, infrastructure, and a strong foundation for continued growth.

Training and/or Experience Required

Possesses strong communication skills, with the ability to thoughtfully and compassionately engage with families of medically complex or critically ill children.Demonstrates the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary team environment.BC/BE in General Pediatrics with or without Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Experience or interest in complex care and palliative care is highly desired.
