Education and training are cornerstones of the program. The institution maintains long standing, ACGME accredited fellowship programs in general cardiology, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, vascular and cardiothoracic surgery, and advanced practice provider cardiovascular fellowships.
High Point Medical Center, part of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, is a 351-bed facility and the second-largest hospital in the Wake Forest enterprise, serving a regional population of more than 600,000 across North Carolina’s Piedmont Triad. Cardiovascular care is centered at the Congdon Heart & Vascular Center, offering a full spectrum of advanced cardiac and vascular services within a state-of-the-art facility. Services include invasive, non-invasive, and interventional cardiology; cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology services; comprehensive cardiothoracic and vascular surgery; advanced imaging and diagnostic testing; cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation through the Heart Strides program; and preventive cardiology and risk factor management.
Primary sites (1-2 days per week): Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in Winston Salem and High Point Medical Center in High Point, NC
Outreach clinic opportunities (1 day per week): Elkin, Wilkes, Lexington, Davie, Greensboro, Hugh Chatham, Alleghany
Position Overview
Full-time,1.0 FTE, 9 half-day clinical sessions, one half-day administrative session per week on average
Inpatient Services
1:4, scheduled in weekly blocks, goal 1:6
Rotating weekly schedule that focuses on heart failure or advanced therapies
Rounding includes ICU
Multidisciplinary rounding team includes APPs and learners
Procedures
One cath lab day during advanced therapies week at Wake Forest Baptist
Able to accommodate emergency biopsies
Right heart caths and biopsies
Outpatient
60-minute new, 30-minute return patients
Clinic sessions are three and a half hours of bookable time

Call & Weekend Coverage
Call rotation aligns with inpatient service week
No general cardiology call
