Description & Requirements
CMC is one of North Carolina’s five Academic Medical Center teaching hospitals, providing residency training for more than 200 physicians across 15 specialties, and serves as a regional campus for Wake Forest University School of Medicine, based in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
Heart and vascular services at CMC include comprehensive electrophysiology, advanced heart failure, interventional cardiology, cardiac surgery, and mechanical circulatory support. The hospital is home to the region’s only heart transplant program and pediatric heart surgery program, making it a critical site for complex adult and congenital cardiac care.
Electrophysiology at CMC is part of Sanger’s enterprise arrhythmia program, offering care for the full spectrum of rhythm disorders. Physicians benefit from advanced EP technologies, multidisciplinary collaboration, and one of the nation’s largest device management and lead extraction programs, with access to complex referrals from across the region. The most advanced EP procedures within Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute are performed at CMC, including epicardial VT ablation, external beam radiation VT ablation, complex lead extraction, and a broad range of device implants.
