Description & Requirements

Wake Forest Baptist, an academic medical center,  partners closely with Wake Forest University School of Medicine, creating a strong environment for education, innovation, and clinical research. The program is structured to manage the full spectrum of cardiovascular disease, from preventive and general cardiology to advanced interventions, heart failure, transplant, structural heart disease, and complex electrophysiology. This academic integration allows physicians to care for some of the most complex cardiac and vascular patients in the region while remaining engaged in teaching and scholarly activity.

Programs include advanced heart failure and transplant, congenital heart disease, structural heart interventions, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, and vascular and endovascular surgery.

High Point Medical Center, part of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, serves as a key regional hospital for the Piedmont Triad and continues to expand its focus on advanced cardiovascular care. The medical center is home to the Congdon Heart and Vascular Center, offering comprehensive cardiology and electrophysiology services, including invasive electrophysiology procedures, device management, and complex arrhythmia care.

High Point has emerged as an important site for the growth of outpatient and procedural electrophysiology, supported by dedicated EP laboratory infrastructure and modern technology. Through close collaboration with the broader Wake Forest Baptist Heart & Vascular program, physicians at High Point benefit from access to academic resources, subspecialty expertise, and an established regional referral base—while practicing in an efficient, community focused environment.

This role is designed to support and expand the outpatient and procedural EP footprint at High Point, while maintaining strong clinical and academic ties to the main academic medical center. These ongoing developments position High Point as a strategic hub for electrophysiology growth within the system, offering exposure to both academic, tertiary level EP care and a high efficiency regional practice model.
