Atrium Health Pineville is a ~340 bed acute care hospital located in south Charlotte and a key site within Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute, Atrium Health’s regional and enterprise cardiovascular program. Pineville delivers advanced heart and vascular care in a community based setting while remaining fully integrated with Atrium Health’s broader electrophysiology and cardiovascular network across the Charlotte region and the Carolinas. 

Electrophysiology Program Overview

Electrophysiology services at Pineville are part of Sanger’s comprehensive arrhythmia program, offering care for the full spectrum of cardiac rhythm disorders. This is a busy, clinically robust electrophysiology opportunity within a growing hospital and an academically minded practice utilizing the latest technologies. Physicians benefit from system wide subspecialty expertise, shared clinical resources, and access to a large, integrated referral network. Collaborative, multi site EP model across Pineville, Cabarrus, and Carolinas Medical Center. The practice includes 14 electrophysiologists and 17 EP APPs. APPs play an integral role in call support and management of routine follow up patients.

Practice Sites
  • Atrium Health Pineville (South Charlotte)
  • High volume procedural and outpatient EP practice
  • Strong referral base and growing community demand
  • Secondary site: Atrium Health Union – Monroe, NC. This site is shared amongst several physicians. Each physician has one outreach office per month and one community lab day per month. 
Call & Weekend Coverage
  • Nine weekends per year (Saturday/Sunday)
  • EP night call (Mon-Thurs) shared between Pineville and Carolinas Medical Center physicians 
  • Two electrophysiologists staff each weekend: one physician focuses on inpatient and outpatient procedures and one physician covers rounding and consults
  • Full anesthesia coverage on weekends, including dedicated EP staff
EP Labs
  • One dedicated EP lab (renovations scheduled for completion August 2026)
  • Second lab under development shared with Interventional Cardiology, total of approximately 1.5 EP labs
  • Biosense Webster, Abbott, Boston, and Medtronic 
Clinical Focus
  • Full spectrum of electrophysiology, including ablations and device implants
  • VT ablation experience preferred
Typical Weekly Schedule
  • Three days per week in the EP lab performing procedures
  • One to two days per week in clinic
  • Approximately 15–17 patients per clinic day, primarily new patients and complex follow ups
  • APPs manage routine follow up visits, allowing physicians to focus on procedural and higher acuity care


Training and/or Experience Required
BE/BC in Cardiovascular Disease
BE/BC in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology 
VT ablation experience preferred
