The Atrium Health Virtual Weight Management Program is a patient-centered, system-oriented program that provides comprehensive, evidence-based obesity and metabolic health care through a fully virtual platform. This physician is a member of an interdisciplinary team dedicated to delivering high-quality weight‑management services focused on obesity treatment and support for long‑term wellness. The physician upholds the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct while supporting the mission, vision, and values of Atrium Health.


Highlights
  • 100% Virtual
  • Full-Time Schedule: Monday – Friday 8am-5pm (34 patient contact hours-6 hours admin weekly) 
  • Performs detailed medical histories, virtual assessments, and clinical evaluations for obesity and metabolic conditions.
  • Develops individualized weight-management treatment plans using evidence based strategies, including nutrition counseling, activity recommendations, behavioral interventions, pharmacotherapy, and referrals when appropriate.
  • Provides ongoing virtual longitudinal care, routine follow ups, and chronic disease management related to obesity and metabolic health.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic tests necessary for obesity care and metabolic monitoring.
  • Completes all documentation in a timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate manner as per Atrium Health policy.
  • Ensures compliance with Atrium Health virtual-care guidelines, clinical protocols, and regulatory standards.
  • Serves as an advocate and educator for patients, providing supportive counseling, motivation, and shared decision-making to promote sustainable weight management outcomes.
  • Delivers empathetic, culturally sensitive care to a diverse adult population.
  • Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives, service excellence efforts, and outcomes-driven program development.
  • Follows access and productivity standards to ensure timely, convenient virtual care availability.
  • Utilizes standardized evidence-based protocols for obesity care.
  • Works closely with a multidisciplinary care team including dietitians, behavioral health professionals, pharmacists, and care coordinators.
  • Participates in program meetings, case discussions, and ongoing clinical improvement work.

  • Provides compassionate, patient-centered obesity care tailored to adult patients in a virtual environment.
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of obesity as a chronic disease, including pharmacotherapy, nutritional science, behavioral medicine, and relevant clinical guidelines.
  • Evaluates patient outcomes and integrates current scientific evidence to continuously improve practice.
  • Communicates effectively through virtual platforms with patients, families, and care team members.
  • Demonstrates integrity, responsibility, and ethical practice at all times.
  • Understands and utilizes health system resources to support high-value, coordinated virtual obesity care.

Training and/or Experience Required
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an accredited residency program.
  • Board Certification in Obesity/Weight Management is required.
  • Maintenance of Certification required per applicable board standards.
  • Experience in virtual care is preferred; experience with obesity pharmacotherapy strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care for: Adults 18 years of age and older
  • Must be willing to serve as a collaborating physician for up to 7 APPs
