The Department of Pathology at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist/Wake Forest University School of Medicine is seeking a Forensic Pathologist with specialized training in forensic pathology to join our growing team in Winston-Salem, NC.

About the Department of Pathology:
The Department of Pathology serves as an academically based Regional Autopsy Center for the State of North Carolina, covering 33 counties. The Forensic Pathology service performs approximately 1,350 full autopsies and 350 external examinations annually, in addition to hospital autopsies for Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist and its System Affiliates. The autopsy service boasts in-house radiology, histology, microbiology, and ready access to superb library resources. A new state-of-the-art autopsy facility is anticipated to open in 2026.

Training and/or Experience Required
Forensic Pathologist Requirements:
  • MD or DO degree.
  • Board certified/eligible in anatomic or anatomic/clinical pathology.
  • Board certified/eligible in forensic pathology with the expectation of subspecialty certification within three years of hire.
  • Evidence of scholarly interest and public speaking and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability and interest in teaching medical students, pathology residents, and forensic pathology fellows.
Applicants invited for an interview will be expected to present a 50-minute departmental lecture on a forensic topic of their choice.
