Join Atrium Health as a Geriatric Medicine Fellow—part of Advocate Health, one of the largest nonprofit integrated health systems in the country.

At Advocate Health, we’re committed to being a Best Place to Care—where physicians are empowered, heard, and equipped to do their best work. You’ll be part of a leading integrated system with a shared commitment to innovation, well-being, and the communities we serve. Whether you're seeking professional growth, meaningful impact, or a team that lifts you up—this is where it starts.

Highlights

Join the Atrium Health Geriatrics Fellowship – a one-year, ACGME-accredited clinical training program designed for board-certified or board-eligible physicians in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine who are passionate about advancing their expertise in caring for older adults across the continuum of care. The anticipated start date is July 7, 2026!

Our fellowship prepares physicians to manage complex geriatric patients in diverse settings, including acute care, long-term care, and ambulatory environments. Fellows gain hands-on experience working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of advanced practice providers, nurses, therapists, social workers, dietitians, and other allied health professionals. Clinical rotations span multiple specialties—such as hospice and palliative medicine, neurology, psychiatry, oncology, and physical medicine & rehabilitation—with elective opportunities available to tailor training to individual interests.

In addition to clinical experience, fellows participate in a robust educational curriculum, including weekly core lectures designed to support preparation for the Geriatric Medicine certification exam. Additional learning opportunities include geriatrics-focused conferences and a quarterly interdisciplinary journal club.

Fellows also develop teaching skills through active involvement in family medicine residency education and medical student training, including bedside teaching and formal lectures.
