WakeMed Health & Hospitals and Atrium Health-Wake Forest University School of Medicine are seeking two board-certified gynecologic oncologists to join and help lead a growing, highly visible Gynecologic Oncology program in Raleigh, North Carolina. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape and expand gynecologic oncology services within WakeMed’s rapidly growing, patient-centered cancer program, while maintaining an academic faculty appointment through Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

This position’s primary clinical focus will be at WakeMed facilities in Raleigh and surrounding Wake County communities, delivering comprehensive gynecologic oncology care in close collaboration with WakeMed Health & Hospitals. Faculty employment will be through Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, with the day-to-day clinical mission centered on WakeMed Cancer Care.

Highlights
WakeMed Cancer Care Program
Founded in 2022, WakeMed Cancer Care has grown rapidly, serving over 15,000 unique patients and exceeding 100,000 patient encounters to date. The program is strategically designed to bring high-quality cancer care closer to patients’ homes, with three integrated locations across Wake County, all offering clinic and infusion services:
  • Raleigh Medical Park, adjacent to WakeMed Raleigh Campus (New Bern Avenue)
  • Asheville Avenue Medical Park, near WakeMed Cary Hospital
  • Physician Office Pavilion, near WakeMed North Hospital
Gynecologic Oncology will be based in a large, multidisciplinary medical office building in Cary, NC, co-located with Medical Oncology and on the same floor as Breast Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Wound Care, fostering strong collaboration across Women’s Health Services.
This position is ideal for an early- to mid-career gynecologic oncologist motivated to:
  • Build and grow a flagship gynecologic oncology program at WakeMed
  • Provide high-quality, mission-driven care in a busy and expanding practice
  • Collaborate closely with medical oncology, surgery, radiation oncology, and supportive services
  • Participate in program development, quality initiatives, and strategic growth
For candidates with appropriate experience and interest, there is an opportunity to assume a section or program leadership role as WakeMed continues to expand its gynecologic oncology team and regional footprint.

Academic Affiliation
Through Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist and Wake Forest University School of Medicine, these positions include faculty appointments with opportunities for:
  • Teaching across the continuum of learners (medical students, residents, and fellows)
  • Participation in clinical and translational research
  • Collaboration with an established academic gynecologic oncology division, including a fully accredited 3-year Gyn Oncology fellowship and a large OB/GYN residency program
Academic involvement may be tailored to the interests and career goals of the successful candidate, with a clinically focused emphasis at WakeMed.
Training and/or Experience Required
  • BE/BC in Gynecologic Oncology
  • MD or DO degree
  • Completion of accredited residency and fellowship training
  • Associate Professor level of higher for consideration of Medical Director
  • North Carolina medical license or license-eligible
