Carolinas Hospitalist Group is seeking an experienced Hospitalist (MD/DO) to join our Virtual Hospital Medicine team in a full‑time Swing Shift role. This position is 100% remote, focused exclusively on inpatient admissions, and designed for clinicians who thrive in a fast‑paced, highly collaborative virtual environment.

This role offers a unique opportunity to practice acute inpatient medicine across multiple Atrium Health facilities while working from a remote setting. Highlights

Schedule & Work Structure

  • 7 on / 7 off

  • Shift: 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM

  • Rotation: Tuesday–Monday

  • Includes: Rotating weekends and holidays

  • Setting: Fully remote, inpatient admissions only

  • Call: None

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide virtual inpatient admission services across Atrium Health hospitals

  • Average 7–8 admissions per shift

  • No procedures required

  • No ICU responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a robust clinical support team including:

    • 3 Day MDs + 1 Day APP

    • 1 Swing MD + 1 Swing APP

    • 2 Nocturnists + 5 APPs providing cross‑cover support

Training and/or Experience Required
MD or DO with Internal Medicine or Family Medicine board certification
North Carolina medical license (or eligibility)
  • Experience: 3–5 years inpatient medicine required (no new graduates)
  • Preferred: Prior telemedicine experience
  • Licensure: Active NC medical license
New graduates not considered
