About Levine Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders

Levine Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders is a growing center of excellence for pediatric spectrum of therapies for hematology and oncology diagnoses including, but not limited to, gene editing, bone marrow transplant and cellular therapies, an expansive and diverse clinical trial portfolio, and proton beam therapy. We are a federally designated hemophilia treatment center, and an expanding Lifespan Sickle Cell treatment center. Our outpatient clinic is in a beautiful, newly-renovated space, alongside a large, newly renovated infusion center and adjacent to Levine Children’s Hospital. Our team is a large, growing and diverse team of providers, nurses, patient navigators, social workers, psychologists, supportive care staff, and integrative modality providers working together to provide comprehensive care and healing to all our patients hematology and oncology care. Highlights

Levine Children’s Cancer & Blood Disorders is recruiting a full-time Medical Director for our rapidly growing pediatric sickle cell team in Charlotte, NC.  Levine Children’s Cancer & Blood Disorders has 11 hematology/oncology physicians, 13 advanced practice providers, a cellular therapy team of 4 physicians and 3 advanced practice providers, and an expanding, diverse support and integrative staff.


  • Predominantly outpatient
  • Remote work-day once weekly
  • Q 1-2 week shared evening phone call coverage required from home with on-site pediatric hospitalist coverage of inpatient team 
  • Rotating coverage of hematology/oncology inpatient service and consultations
  • Existing & new patient panel   
  • Current office hours: Monday-Friday 8am -5pm
  • Excellent work culture 


Training and/or Experience Required

  • A clinical physician, with possible interests in research or education, to expand our reputation and involvement in the advancement of the care and treatment of patients with sickle cell disease at the local, regional, and national level.
  • Partner with our adult colleagues on a shared campus to expand our Lifespan Sickle Cell treatment center, as well as the bone marrow transplant and cellular therapies team to expand our sickle cell curative therapies program.
  • Potential candidates must have experience in caring for patients with sickle cell disease, thalassemia, and hemoglobinopathies.
