Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, NC is recruiting a Board-Certified Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist with specialized training in pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplantation (BMT) and Cellular therapies to join their team. The hospital offers comprehensive transplant services and is an approved site for CAR-T therapies and sickle cell disease treatments.


Levine Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders is a growing center of excellence for pediatric hematology and oncology care and cellular therapies. Ranked in USNWR, we provide access to a full spectrum of therapies for hematology and oncology diagnoses including, but not limited to, gene editing, bone marrow transplant and cellular therapies, an expansive and diverse clinical trial portfolio, and proton beam therapy. We are a federally designated hemophilia treatment center, and an expanding Lifespan Sickle Cell treatment center. Our outpatient clinic is in a beautiful, newly-renovated space, alongside a large, newly renovated infusion center and adjacent to Levine Children’s Hospital. Our team is a large, growing and diverse team of providers, nurses, patient navigators, social workers, psychologists, supportive care staff, and integrative modality providers working together to provide comprehensive care and healing to all our patients. 

Levine Children’s Hospital, a part of Atrium Health, has taken us to another level of service to care for the growing population of children in our region. Ranked as one of the top Children’s Hospitals by U.S. News and World Report, it is the most comprehensive children’s hospital between Atlanta and Washington, DC, helping families stay closer to home.  There are 12 floors with 234 patient beds, including a 20-bed PICU. Carolinas Medical Center serves as the Charlotte campus of University of North Carolina Medical School and LCH physicians have UNC appointments.  



Highlights

Position Highlights:

State of the Art Facility - We currently have a dedicated 8-bed cellular therapies unit with a dedicated play space and ability to expand when needed. Perform autologous, matched sibling, unrelated donor, cord blood, and haploidentical donor transplants. We are also an approved site for CAR-T cell therapies with multiple commercial agents.  

Well-Established and Diverse Program for patients with sickle cell disease seeking curative therapy.  This includes matched sibling and alternative donor transplants as well as being an authorized treatment center for Casgevy. The BMT program is FACT accredited and is a COG and NMDP Transplant Center. 

Team Based Care - Collaboration with a large and growing adult BMT program.  We currently have 4 BMT physicians, 3 Advanced Care Practitioners, 2 coordinators and a growing team to meet the needs of 40+ transplant patients/year.  

Quality of Life - Responsibilities for the new physician will include patient care in both the inpatient and outpatient facilities. The inpatient service is managed by our APP’s and night hospitalist service.  

Training and/or Experience Required

Ideal Candidate:

  • Completed additional training in Pediatric BMT and Cellular therapies following Pediatric Hematology and Oncology fellowship.  
  • A focus on malignant disease is appreciated; however, we are a balanced clinically focused group, and all interested applicants would be considered regardless of clinical focus.
