Levine Children’s Hospital is the flagship children’s hospital within Atrium Health and a regional referral center for complex pediatric care.
  • 234‑bed freestanding children’s hospital
  • More than 150 pediatric specialists across 30+ subspecialties

  • In 2025, five pediatric specialties ranked in the Top 25 nationally

Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
  • 24‑bed PICU with the highest number of admissions in North Carolina
  • Cares for the most complex and critically ill pediatric patients
  • Full spectrum of advanced critical care services, including:
    • ECMO
    • CRRT
    • Solid organ transplantation
    • Advanced mechanical ventilation
  • Located within a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center
  • Serves as a regional and statewide referral destination

Division Overview
  • 11 Pediatric Critical Care physicians
  • 11 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
  • Strong multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Robust academic and clinical foundation with opportunities for program growth, innovation, and leadership development

Role Responsibilities
The Division Chief / Medical Director will:
  • Provide strategic, clinical, and academic leadership for the Pediatric Critical Care division
  • Lead and mentor physicians and APPs in a high‑acuity, high‑volume environment
  • Advance quality, safety, education, and clinical excellence
  • Collaborate with hospital, system, and academic leadership to support program growth
  • Represent Pediatric Critical Care within Atrium Health and Advocate Health at a regional and national level
Training and/or Experience Required
MD or DO
Board‑certified (or board‑eligible) in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
Demonstrated leadership experience or strong leadership potential
Commitment to academic excellence, quality improvement, and team‑based care
