Hugh Chatham Health, in partnership with Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, seeks a Board Certified/Board Eligible Family Medicine Physician with fellowship training in Sports Medicine to join our team in Elkin, North Carolina. This faculty position supports a growing, community-based program focused on training compassionate family physicians dedicated to rural health. The physician will provide comprehensive sports medicine care, including musculoskeletal injury management, concussion care, and non-operative orthopedic treatment, while also participating in resident education and mentorship. This is an excellent opportunity to combine sports medicine, primary care, and medical education within a collaborative and supportive environment.

  • Hybrid Faculty Role: Combination of outpatient sports medicine clinical practice, resident education, athletic coverage, and scholarly engagement.
  • Resident Education: Direct teaching, clinical supervision, sports medicine didactics, curriculum development, mentorship, and participation in resident evaluations and ACGME-required committees (CCC/PEC).
  • Scholarly & Program Support: Engagement in scholarly activities, including quality improvement, research, and curriculum innovation, while collaborating with program leadership on accreditation and continuous program development.
  • Clinical Care: Provide high-quality sports medicine care, including evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries, concussion management, injury prevention, and non-operative orthopedic conditions, while overseeing resident sports medicine rotations and training experiences.

Training and/or Experience Required
  • MD or DO degree with successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Family Medicine Residency and Sports Medicine Fellowship
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine, with a Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Sports Medicine, or eligibility to obtain certification
  • Eligible for an unrestricted North Carolina medical license
  • Eligible for North Carolina DEA registration and prescriptive authority
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Demonstrated commitment to medical education, mentorship, and community-focused patient care
  • Strong interest in collaborative, team-based care and the delivery of high-quality sports medicine services across diverse patient populations
