We are searching for 3 Ob/Gyn Hospitalists to complement our current cohort and help provide 24/7 double in-house attending physician coverage. Our current team is comprised of 7 Academic Generalists and 3 Academic Hospitalists who educate, supervise, and provide patient care alongside resident physicians. Current or recent academic experience is strongly preferred. Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Inpatient Obstetrics: We supervise residents and medical students on Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and Triage units. We also supervise APPs who provide care in our OB Triage unit as well as CNMs on Labor and Delivery. We perform approximately 3500 deliveries per year and manage both high-risk and low-risk patients. Our Maternal Fetal Medicine faculty are available 24/7 and manage the Antepartum Unit. 
  • Inpatient Gynecology: Overnight and on weekends, the in-house attendings supervise residents in the care of our inpatient gynecology service and consultation service, including performing urgent/emergent gynecologic surgeries such as laparoscopy for ectopic pregnancy and ovarian torsion, or dilation and curettage for early pregnancy loss. A Generalist who manages the Benign Gyn service during the day is available for emergency back-up

  • Current team of 7 Academic Generalists and 3 Academic Hospitalists
  • 40 board-eligible/certified physicians representing all OB/Gyn subspecialties (including Academic Specialists, MFM, Gyn Oncology, REI, Urogynecology, MIGS, Complex Family Planning, and PAG) providing care to a diverse patient population.
  • 24 OB/Gyn residents (6 per year).
  • New regional campus for Wake Forest University School of Medicine providing clinical education for 3rd and 4th year medical students and PA students.
  • In addition to caring for the Charlotte underserved community, CMC is the primary regional referral center for high-risk pregnancies with Level 3 NICU support.
Training and/or Experience Required

  • Medical degree from an accredited medical school
  • Board certification/eligibility in OB/GYN
  • Current or recent academic experience strongly preferred
