We are seeking a Full time Family Medicine Physician committed to teaching the next generation of physicians, with a special interest in research.

Department of Family Medicine

The Department of Family Medicine was established in 1973 and is nationally known for its leadership in Family Medicine, for its Center for Primary Care Research, and for exceptional education of medical students, FM residents and fellows.   Cabarrus Family Medicine Residency Program (8/8/8), and Carolinas Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program (12/12/12) both have a long history of excellence in residency education, most of their graduates stay in the area.

With the launch of the Charlotte campus of Wake Forest University School of Medicine, faculty now play an integral role across all four years of medical education, with a focus on innovation, health equity, and community engagement.

This position is based at Elizabeth Family Medicine, a full-scope community clinic located in midtown Charlotte near Atrium Health Mercy. The clinic is part of a large integrated physician network with access to system-wide resources and multidisciplinary support.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient care to patients of all ages
  • Perform common office procedures (e.g., colposcopy, contraceptive procedures, I&D, joint injections)
  • Collaborate with clinic leadership and interdisciplinary teams


Education

  • Precept and teach family medicine residents and medical students
  • Evaluate learners and serve as a faculty advisor
  • Contribute to curriculum development and educational innovation


Research

  • Develop and sustain an independent, externally funded research program
  • Conduct high-quality primary care and population health research
  • Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present scholarly work
  • Lead or participate in clinical trials and collaborative research initiatives
  • Contribute to faculty development in research skills and scholarship
Training and/or Experience Required
  • Board Eligible/Board Certified in Family Medicine
  • Commitment to patient-centered, equitable care
  • Passion for teaching and mentoring learners
  • Demonstrated or emerging record of scholarly activity (publications, grants, or research training preferred)
  • Interest in innovation, collaboration, and academic leadership
